There doesn't seem to be a point where they are mature enough as a people/country to say "Enough is enough!" on all this killing.
In fact, as an outsider it seems there can never be enough mass murders for/within the USA - it's like some perverse badge of honour.

Why do cops over there freak out when they are arresting unarmed people for a traffic stop and end up killing them... but a guy who has just killed 10 people with an ar-15 in his hands ends up "in custody"..

I get the impression that whatever happens is only ever viewed as either a confirmation of existing prejudices or ignored if it contradicts them.
If an immigrant or a foreigner was responsible for this then there would be outrage directed towards the source country or their minority group. As it's a white USA native then it will just be buried and glossed over behind the usual 'thoughts and prayers for the victims' messages.
They seem extremely highly skilled at doublethink.
